If I were to be in Anne Frank's or Yoko Kawashima(the main character in So Far From The Bamboo Grove) and I was in the middle of World War II going on and I have to travel from one place to another, I would be with my family, but I 4/5.

This document is a choice of culminating activities for the two novels, Year of Impossible Goodbyes and So Far From the Bamboo Grove.

The students will have the opportunity to choose the final project that concludes the novel study of these two books/4(2).

So Far From the Bamboo Grove was my second book read out of this and Year of Impossible Goodbyes. I think that because of this I did not take to this book as much. After reading about the war from the Koreans point of view, I didn't feel very sorry for the Japanese in this book.

I know that this was rude of me but it was true. Unlike Year of Impossible Goodbyes. I really enjoyed reading So Far From The Bamboo Grove by Yoko Kawashima Watkins. This was a lot more interesting of a read as this book was engaging making it difficult to put down. I really found a connection with Yoko's family in the novel.

I looked online to see what age is recommended for this book and it said 10+.A great book is not just one on the top ten seller list or covered with awards, a great book is great if it is great to just one person.
